Organic synthesis is a creative part of science where the goal is making new compounds. It is a bit like cooking: mixing various ingredients in a controlled way under specific conditions in order to recreate an existing dish, or inventing your own unique dish. I worked on this for five years at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Below my PhD thesis from 1994, based on this work.
